An alliance of talentsA harmony between métiers
A creator, manufacturer and trader of high-quality objects of exceptional craftsmanship, Hermès is a
mosaic of men and women from a vast variety of
professional backgrounds, all united by the same
respect for the crafts and a love of ajob well done. All artisans are, in their own way, driven by the vital spark of creation that keeps the house alive in all of its métiers: around the collections, in the manufactories, close to the clients, in support of others.
In the manufactories
Leather craftspeople, tanners, printers, workshop supervisors, production managers, quality controllers, Health, Safety and Environment managers, Method Engineers, Supply Chain managers… Faithful to the artisan spirit that
born in the harness and saddle workshops, they seek to perpetuate the company’s tradition
of high-quality and excellence while continuing to reinvent and evolve its fabrication methods and procedures.
Driven by a passion for the material and a culture of excellence, the tanner transforms precious skins into the finest leather. They prepare the skin with the various treatments, washing and drying operations necessary for tanning. They constantly adapt the process to the demands of the collections and materials and enhance the skin with constantly renewed colours and finishes.
From the very beginning to the end of the process, the tanner is the guarantor of the final quality of the leather, its appearance and desired feel.
Chemical engineers by training, they know how to deal with an ever-changing natural product. They adapt to the needs of the collections by constantly adjusting the process.
